Five more imported Covid-19 patients confirmed, total reaches 1,520

According to the ministry's report, one of the newly-infected case is a 24-year-old woman who returned from Japan to Hanoi on January 10 and was quarantined in Thanh Hoa Province.

The woman is being treated at the Hanoi-based National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

The next patient is a 24-year-old man who flew from the US to the Republic of Korea and then took a flight to the Cam Ranh International Airport in the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on January 1.

He was sent to a quarantine area in Phu Yen Province upon arrival and is now being treated at the Phu Yen Provincial General Hospital.

The last three patients including two women and a man aged 36 and 37 who entered Vietnam via Moc Bai International Border Gate in Tay Ninh Province on January 7.

They are being quarantined and treated at the Tay Ninh Provincial General Hospital.

With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 826.

As of 6 pm on January 12, a total of 1,361 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, 17,555 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
