A steel-clad fishing boat has just been given to a fisherman in Quang Ngai Province, which is aiming at strengthening the Vietnamese fishing fleet.
Sang Fish 01
The Sang Fish 01 was given to Phan Be in Pho Trach Commune, Duc Pho District on July 2. The boat was built in four months by Nha Trang Shipbuilding Company. The aqua products can be stored in six freezer compartments for up to 45 days. Sang Fish 01 is 25.21 metres long, 7.80 metres wide and can accommodate 18 crew members.
On the deck
The boat is also equipped with advance navigation machine, sonar system to detect schools of fish and lighting machine for nighttime fishing. The fuel storage can keep the boat going for 2,000 nautical miles. The cost of the boat is estimated at VND7.3 billion and the boat owner will make installment payments for seven years without interest.
This is the fourth among 10 boats which will be given by the Vietnam Ship Building Industry Corporation to fishermen in provinces of Nam Dinh and Quang Ngai.
Phan Be, the boat owner said he will take the boat to its first trip this month. "During this tense time with China, building a new and sturdier fishing fleet will help fishermen be more confident in protecting the country's sovereignty and their daily fishing activities." he said.
On the same day, Nha Trang Shipbuilding Company started the inauguration to build two new squid fishing boats for fishermen in Quang Ngai Province. The boats is expected to completed in about 100 days.
