Guiding a tanker entering the dock – Illustration photo |
Tanker Van Phong I, bearing Vietnamese nationality, carrying nearly 100,000 tons of diesel today anchored in the Van Phong Bay of the central province of Khanh Hoa.
This is the first time Vietnam used its own tanker to carry oil ashore rather than hiring foreign vessels.
By delivering nearly 100,000 tons of diesel safely, the tanker contributed to the State bank nearly VND 300 billion ($16 million).
Van Phong I, valued over US $47 million, was built by the Vietnam National Gas and Oil Group (PetroVietnam).
It was reported that the tanker will continue to arrive Kuwait for the second trip and will return the Van Phong Bay in late March or early April.
Vietnam expects to welcome 9 tankers to the Van Phong Bay this year, collecting about VND 2.5 trillion ($135 million) for the State bank.
