In their official document sent to the agriculture associations and people's committees of provinces and cities nation-wide, the Ministry of Agriculture & Rural Development said that many localities in China are tightening control over trading activities to prevent the virus spreading.

According to the ministry, since March 30, China carried out tighter check-ups on all drivers who went through the borders to Vietnam and banned all Vietnamese drivers from virus-hit areas from entering China.

"China also set up a team of drivers to transport goods through the border gates of Huu Nghi - Friendship Pass and Tan Thanh - Po Chai. These drivers must show a health certificate that confirms virus-negative, and they are required not to go outside of Lang Son Province," the ministry said.

The border gates here have also shortened the opening time to five hours a day which have left a huge amount of agricultural goods to be stuck at the border gates.

The ministry asked local export companies to stop transporting agricultural products especially fruits to Lang Son Province while waiting for the clearance of the current goods stuck at the border gates here.

The companies are encouraged to join in producing and processing chains and help sell the products at the local market.
