Do Ba Hung, chairman of Tang Loong commune People’s Committee, said the blast occurred at about 12 pm on February 23 at Vietnam Gold Phosphorus 5 Company Ltd, located inside the industrial park.
According to initial reports, one worker, identified as Vang Van Lam, 35, from Bac Ha Commune in Lao Cai Province, was killed in the explosion.

Witnesses said the blast sent a column of white smoke hundreds of metres into the air, resembling a bomb explosion.
After receiving reports of the incident, authorities and emergency units arrived to cordon off the area and launch an investigation into the cause.
