He was famous throughout the central region for having successfully hunted 298 elephants. He was also known as a 'playboy' in Ban Don Village, Dak Lak Province.
After Ama Kong stopped hunting elephants, his equipment was displayed inside the 120 year-old house, and later, Ban Don Tourism Centre has used the house for exhibition.
Most of his tools were made of bamboo and even tortoise shells. One of the most important tools of elephant hunters is the whip made of buffalo skin.
The exhibition will be on display for four days, starting November 4, in respect to Kong's funeral. Kham Phet Lao, the son of the famous elephant hunter, Ama Kong, said that his father's tomb will be adorned with several statues of peacocks and bronze pots.
