On September 23, the Lam Ha Protection Forest Management Board in Lam Dong Province confirmed Hoanh had been located in Nam Ha Lam Ha Commune, around noon. He was weak from hunger and cold but gradually recovered after receiving food and water.

Authorities said he would be taken out of the forest later that day and brought to Phi To Commune medical station for care.

Hoanh had entered the forest on the morning of September 18 and lost his way. His family reported him missing on September 22. Nearly 100 people, including local officials and residents, joined the search effort.
