
Dozens of students face food poisoning after eating mystery sweets
Binh Lieu District People's Committee announced on Wednesday that 29 students at Hoanh Mo Secondary and High School had shown signs of headaches, dizziness, and nausea after eating a product bought from a store near the school.The incident occurred on November 27 and all the students aged between 12 and 14 had to be sent to hospital, the committee said. "Local authorities have taken the product sample for testing."
Talking to the police, the store's owner said that the sweets with foreign letters on the cover were supplied by a new trader that she didn't know.
On November 25, five students at a secondary school in Cai Rong Town, Van Don District were also hospitalised for food poisoning after eating Chinese Haiyan brand name products. There is no information written in Vietnamese or details about the importers on them.
Local authorities have asked schools in the area to warn parents and pupils not to buy products of unknown origin.
