Dong Nai plans free trade zone setup by Long Thanh International Airport

The southern province of Dong Nai has planned to establish a free trade zone located by Long Thanh International Airport.

The free trade zone project will cover 8,300 hectares and cost around USD 16 billion.

The provincial people's committee today, June 27, held a seminar on the project, attracting the participation of leading experts in finance, economics, urban development, planning, and logistics.

According to the committee, the proposed project will comprise a production zone (3,095 hectares); a logistics hub (2,244 hectares); a finance, trade and services zone (1,500 hectares); and an innovation and digital economy cluster focusing on research, IT and technology (1,419 hectares).

Dong Nai aims to prioritise 18 strategic sectors for the free trade zone, including digital logistics, electronics, engineering, information technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, and human capital development.

The zone is expected to maximise the advantages of Long Thanh International Airport, Phuoc A Port, and Dong Nai’s existing network of industrial parks.

This will be the first free trade zone to integrate airport and seaport logistics with commercial activities, financial services, export-oriented manufacturing, and supporting functions.

The infrastructure network surrounding Long Thanh International Airport is rapidly expanding, with transport links including Belt Road 4 (HCM City), Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway, Road 769E and Road 773 linking Belt Road 4 with Cam My and Xuan Loc districts in Dong Nai.
