Dong Nai approves project near Long Thanh airport

Authorities in Dong Nai Province have approved a land clearance and resettlement project covering more than 1,164 hectares near Long Thanh International Airport to prepare land for future auctions.

The project, with an estimated investment of around VND1 trillion (USD38 million), will be implemented between 2026 and 2027.

According to the approval, the project aims to acquire land, provide compensation and resettlement support, and create a cleared land fund for auction as part of the planned Long Thanh Urban-Commercial-Service Area.

The project covers 1,164.5 hectares across four zones in Binh An Commune and Long Thanh Ward, including 610.5 hectares in Zone A, 329 hectares in Zone E, 170 hectares in the former Binh Son resettlement area and 55 hectares in the remaining zone.

The project is expected to help unlock the value of land surrounding the airport and generate significant revenue for the state budget through land-use rights auctions.

Compensation and site clearance costs are estimated at more than VND 515 billion for Zone A, VND 277 billion for Zone E, VND 143 billion for the former Binh Son resettlement sections and VND 46 billion for the remaining zone.

The project will be funded through advances from Dong Nai's Land Development Fund, with the city's Land Development Centre serving as the investor.

Long Thanh International Airport, one of Vietnam's largest infrastructure projects, is expected to become a major driver of urban and economic development in the surrounding area.
