Viet Tran Tours has been offering a 50% discount for plane tickets plus a VND500,000 (USD24) discount. Tours to Thailand can be widely found for VND10 million.

Some domestic tours, such as tour to Ha Giang or Nha Trang, have been being offered at less than VND4 million.

Travelink offered a series of tours during the holiday with discounts as high as 30%.

Still, in the current economic situation, tour companies fear that even such deals will not induce people to travel.

Nguyen The Nghi, manager of ANZ Travel Company said, "Despite the coming holiday, business is down by 60% to 70% from last year."

The Viet Tran Tour Company said, "The most popular choice for people this year has been discounts on airfare on Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet. Many of them can be found for as much as 40% lower than normal rates."
