Hanoi Metro posted its highest-ever first-half profit after tax, reporting net earnings of more than VND 33.3 billion (approximately USD 1.27 million) for the first six months of 2026 as revenue rose sharply.

Financial statements released by Hanoi Metro, officially Hanoi Urban Railway One Member Co., Ltd., showed first-half revenue reached nearly VND 547 billion (approximately USD 20.9 million), up more than 39 per cent from a year earlier.

Ticket sales generated more than VND 85 billion (approximately USD 3.25 million), while nearly VND 462 billion (approximately USD 17.7 million) came from government operating subsidies.

After deducting the cost of sales, the company reported gross profit of nearly VND 39.8 billion (approximately USD 1.52 million), with a gross profit margin of around 7.3 per cent.

Financial income rose 6 per cent to VND 25 billion (approximately USD 955,000), mainly from interest earned on bank deposits.

Administrative expenses increased 74 per cent to more than VND 23 billion (approximately USD 879,000). Of that amount, nearly VND 16 billion (approximately USD 611,000) was spent on salaries for management staff.

Net profit after tax exceeded VND 33.3 billion (approximately USD 1.27 million), more than tripling from the same period last year. The result marked the company's strongest first-half performance on record and exceeded its full-year profit in every year between 2015 and 2024.

As of the end of June, Hanoi Metro's total assets stood at more than VND 8.026 trillion (approximately USD 306.7 million), an increase of VND 105 billion (approximately USD 4 million) from the beginning of the year. The company held about VND 1.597 trillion (approximately USD 61 million) in bank deposits.

Hanoi Metro, a company owned by the Hanoi People's Committee, operates the Cat Linh-Ha Dong and Nhon-Hanoi Station urban railway lines.

The company has been tasked with serving nearly 21.6 million passengers this year. It expects full-year revenue of almost VND 1.28 trillion (approximately USD 48.9 million) and net profit after tax of around VND 45.7 billion (approximately USD 1.75 million).
