Discharged waste continues to mar Han River
Danang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company announced on April 25 that untreated wastewater was still being discharged directly into Han River in Hoa Cuong Bac Ward in Hai Chau District. Locals are upset with the pollution and have filed a report to the local authorities, however, nothing has been done.
The discharge sewer is located near Tran Thi Ly Bridge. A large streak of black water that is about 200 metres long was seen with white foam and oil scum. At some sections, dead fish are being washed to the bank.
Polluted Han River
Danang Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company Director Mai Ma said this section was being polluted by a series of restaurants along September 2 and Nui Thanh streets.
Moreover, since the project to upgrade the canals and direct wastewater from Dao Xanh to Hoa Chau Ward hasn't been completed, the wastewater continues to spill into the Han River.
"When the project is completed, the wastewater will be directed to Hoa Xuan Ward and the pollution will end," he said.
