According to the HCMC Centre for Disease Control (HCDC), the city has recorded 4,500 dengue fever patients since early April. Among those, 109 are experiencing serious symptoms.
HCM City Children's Hospital 2 is providing treatment for many dengue fever patients, including two who are in a critical condition and have to use dialysis.

Dr Nguyen Dinh Quy, deputy head of HCM City Children's Hospital 2 said that children who suffer from dengue fever often face 3-4 days of high fever.
In 2019, the city faced a dengue fever outbreak with 20,000 cases, but the cases that worsened totalled just 38.
Two dengue fever fatalities in HCM City this year were due to being hospitalised late.
According to the head Pasteur HCM City Institute Nguyen Vu Trung, localities need to take drastic measures to prevent big outbreaks and mitigate deaths.
