Vietnam's daily Covid-19 infections dropped to 28,307 cases on Sunday from the previous day's 34,140 cases, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (2,181), Bac Giang (1,533), Nghe An (1,525), Yen Bai (1,510), Lao Cai (1,219).
As of Sunday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam reached 10,198,236. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,522,262), HCM City (601,886), Nghe An (415,171), Binh Duong (381,599), and Bac Giang (374,531).
On April 10, an additional 34,991 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,532,523.
On Sunday evening, a further 19 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,813. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Kien Giang (3), Phu Yen (3), Tra Vinh (3), and Binh Phuoc (2).
Vietnam on April 9 administered 64,501 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 208.52 million.
