Tran Ngoc Hien, chairman of Ham Thang Ward, said the accident occurred at about 8 am when a 23-year-old man was using a crane to move a roughly four-metre ornamental tree at a plant nursery on Hoang Minh Giam Street.

As the crane arm extended to lift the tree, it came into contact with overhead power lines, triggering a loud explosion with smoke and sparks. Electric current surged through the vehicle, throwing the driver from the cabin. He died at the scene.
Authorities cordoned off the area and are investigating the incident.
In a separate case last month, police in Lam Dong investigated a fatal collision in which a pickup truck dragged a motorbike for nearly one kilometre after a crash in Phan Thiet Ward.
The incident occurred around midnight on February 20, when the pickup truck collided with a motorbike at an intersection before continuing to drive, dragging the bike along the road. The 56-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.
Police conducted a forensic examination and are working to determine the cause of the accident and identify those responsible.
