Mr Zhou, who is also Secretary of the Politics and Law Commission, expressed his delight at the development of bilateral relations, especially after Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited China in October and Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping visited Vietnam in December 2011.
He proposed that the two countries promote the exchange of high-ranking delegations, which he said would boost mutual political trust, make cooperation more effective, and settle disputes peacefully to contribute to deepening bilateral relations under the motto of “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability and looking toward the future” and in the spirit of “good neighbours, good friends, good comrades, and good partners.”
For his part, FM Minh congratulated China on its great achievements during national construction and development, and the building of socialism. He expressed his belief that the CPC’s upcoming 18th National Congress will be a great success.
The diplomat also reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of developing relations with China’s Party and State and deepening the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
On the same day, Mr Minh worked with Wang Jiarui, Head of the CPC Central Committee International Liaison Department, to discuss ways to strengthen ties between the two Communist Parties.
During his stay in China, FM Minh was also received by State Councillor Dai Bingguo who recommended that both sides fulfil the cooperation mechanism of the Joint Steering Committee on Bilateral Cooperation and promote exchange in all fields and at all levels.
Mr Minh took the opportunity to convey Vietnamese Party and State leaders’ invitations to their Chinese counterparts to visit Vietnam.
