The central region of Vietnam is forecast to continue facing torrential rain until October 29, the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting has said.

Rain will be concentrated from southern Quang Tri to Danang and eastern Quang Ngai, with totals of 200-400mm and up to 700mm in some areas. Hue and Danang are expected to receive 300-500mm, locally exceeding 800mm.

From Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri, moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms are likely, with rainfall of 100-200mm and isolated areas surpassing 350mm.

From the night of October 30, heavy rain is forecast to gradually move northward towards the north-central region.

The agency also predicted scattered showers in the north, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, with sunny afternoons and cool nights, turning cold in mountainous areas. Other regions will experience rain, moderate to heavy showers and scattered thunderstorms, with some places seeing very heavy rain.

Many parts of central Vietnam remain severely inundated following days of intense rain, particularly in Hue City and Hoi An.
