According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, downpours started from Tuesday in multiple central provinces from Ha Tinh to Phu Yen, with rainfall recorded from 7am on January 3 to 3am on January 4 between 40–45mm.

It is forecasted that heavy rains will continue in the region until January 7 with rainfall between 100–400mm from Thua Thien Hue to Khanh Hoa provinces.

Some areas in the Central Highlands region may also see heavy rains in the next two days.

The centre has warned that flash floods and landslides may occur in lowland and mountainous areas following the rains.
