The device, measuring about 0.15 metres in diameter and 0.8 metres in length, was transported to a military training ground in Yen Mong for controlled detonation.

Military engineers from the Phu Tho Military Command carried out the disposal operation under strict safety procedures.
The bomb was earlier discovered by fishermen along the Da River in what is now Thanh Thuy Commune. It had become exposed on the riverbank after sediment accumulated along the shore.
After receiving reports from local authorities, the chairman of the Phu Tho People’s Committee assigned the provincial military command, in coordination with police and local officials, to inspect the site, assess the device and organise its disposal.
The operation was conducted carefully to ensure absolute safety for nearby residents and the surrounding area.
