A man in the central province of Binh Thuan has voluntarily handed over to local forest rangers a monkey he raised for 16 years.

A man in the central province of Binh Thuan has voluntarily handed over to local forest rangers a monkey he raised for 16 years.

This morning, January 9, the forest management board of Ham Tan-La Gi district area received the long-tailed monkey from Huynh Tan Phat, 43, in Tan Binh Commune in La Gi District.

Phat has taken care of the monkey since 2008.

The monkey has been handed over to the forest rangers


The male animal is listed among rare and endangered species. It weighs 5.6 kilos and is in stable health.

Many people in Binh Thuan have recently handed over rare animals to local authorities to be released into the wild. A man in Phan Thiet City also handed over a 10.5-kilo rare and endangered sea turtle.
