Automatic motorbikes banned from Son Tra mountainous routes

The ban comes after a series of accidents involving tourists driving the vehicle in Son Tra Peninsula.

Automatic motorbikes will be banned from Hoang Sa Highway to the thousand-year-old banyan tree, from Danang Television Broadcasting Station to the Ban Co Peak and from Yet Kieu intersection to Suoi Om Stream.

Local people and tourists can use other types of vehicles to travel and the authorities will set up stations to guide travellers to the right routes.

Regarding the route from Ban Co Peak to Bai Bac Beach, Danang authorities are considering opening a one-way route because the weak infrastructure is not good enough for two-way traffic.

All vehicles, except forest rangers and police and the military are banned from using other routes to Son Tra due to weak infrastructure. Danang authorities have asked the Department of Transport to work with related agencies to put up signage and warning signs before October 20.

Danang Department of Tourism will provide transport for tourists to the desired destinations before October 25.
