Citing the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission and the Vietnam trade office in Australia, the trade remedies authority of Vietnam under the ministry of industry and trade said Canberra had received an application seeking an investigation into galvanised steel products from Vietnam and South Korea.

The products in question fall under tariff codes 7210.49.00, 7212.30.00, 7225.92.00 and 7226.99.00.

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission is assessing whether there are sufficient grounds to initiate a formal investigation.

Under Australian law, a decision on whether to proceed must be made by April 20.

The trade remedies authority of Vietnam said it would continue coordinating with the Vietnam trade office in Australia and other relevant bodies to keep associations and businesses informed of developments.

It advised exporters to closely monitor the case and prepare response plans, including reviewing export activities linked to the affected product codes, particularly data on selling prices and production costs.

Companies were also encouraged to coordinate with authorities and consider engaging international legal counsel experienced in anti-dumping cases to prepare documentation and defence arguments if an investigation is launched.

In addition, businesses were urged to reassess market strategies, diversify export destinations to reduce reliance on a single market and develop contingency plans in case duties are imposed.

The authority said early preparation would help firms minimise potential impacts and better protect their legitimate interests.
