Dong Hoi Airport in the central province of Quang Binh has been fined VND35 million (USD1,564) for closing a terminal to organise a badminton tournament for employees recently.
The information was confirmed this morning, March 30, by the airport director Nguyen The Nhuan.

“This is a great lesson for the airport and we will try to not repeat it in the future,” Thuan said.
According to Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV), on March 19, the tournament was held at the waiting lounge between 7:55 and 9:00 am.
At 9:00 am, flight W2-B8158 from Canh Ranh in the central province of Khanh Hoa landed at Dong Hoi Airport. However, the passenger terminal was closed until 10 am, so the passengers and their luggage were taken to a restricted part of the airport.
Meanwhile, a number of passengers who came to the airport early for a flight scheduled to leave Dong Hoi to HCM City at midday on the same day were not served at the terminal.
Dong Hoi Airport halted the service without seeking permission from CAAV and the airport has been fined VND35 million for the violation.
