The 7-kilo male monkey used to disturb residents in Que My Commune in Que Son District.
On January 3, dozens of Quang Nam forest rangers co-operated with people in Que My Commune to capture the animal.
The monkey was then released into Phu Ninh Forest which is home to many monkeys.
Four people in Que Son Commune’s Phuoc Chanh Village have been attacked by the monkey since mid-November. All of them were hospitalised, including one suffering from severe injuries in his right leg. The money also killed four dogs in the village.
By late December, authorities of Quang Nam directed police officers and forest rangers to map out a plan to shoot the monkey in Que Son District. The Que Son Forest Rangers were permitted to shoot the monkey if they failed to capture it using a tranquiliser.
