Vietnam reported an additional 39,334 Covid-19 infections on Friday, a fall of 6,551 cases against yesterday's figure, according to the Ministry of Health.
According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in 62 out of 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (2,897), Yen Bai (2,115), Bac Giang (2,052), Phu Tho (1,992), and Nghe An (1,891). The northern province of Bac Giang today added 25,763 infection cases to the national tally.
As of Friday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 10,135,789. The country now stands 12th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,517,879), HCM City (600,480), Nghe An (411,990), Binh Duong (380,892), and Bac Giang (371,042).
On April 8, an additional 60,609 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 8,455,675 .
On Friday evening, a further 35 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,768. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including Dak Lak (4), Lao Cai (4), Hau Giang (3), Thai Nguyen (3), and Tra Vinh (3).
Vietnam on April 7 administered 865,209 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 204.24 million.
