According to the Maritime Administration of Quang Tri Province, three vessels have been auctioned. Among those, a 50-metre-long vessel which was discovered at a beach in Trieu Phong District in December 2022 was sold for VND1.3 billion (USD53,719).

The Quang Tri Maritime Administration is preparing for the auction of another 18-metre-long vessel and a wooden boat.
The fate of the vessels was decided after local authorities failed to identify the ship owners.
Most recently, on January 7, another boat was seen on a beach of Trieu Lang Commune, Trieu Phong District without anyone on board. Some of the boat’s equipment were in another language.
On Jan 4 and 7, two big floating cages also drifted onto a beach in Vinh Linh District.
