
The 32nd Annual Conference of Asian Association of Open Universities held in Hanoi
The educators will discuss about how to better co-operate with other open universities in the world and emphasise the importance of open education to the region's socio-economy development. The annual conference is held in turn by the members of the Asian Association of Open Universities.
Open education appeared in Vietnam in the late 20th century and is considered one of the strategic orientations for the development of education and training.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc gave high regards to the conference and said they were helping improve the quality of human resources. He hopes that the conference will be a bridge for regular and strong connection between Asian universities and the world.
Nguyen Mai Huong from Hanoi Open University said that they were one of the most autonomous universities in Vietnam and had been building more comprehensive open education system.
About 1,500 engineers, architects and masters have graduated as technology makes it possible for students to learn from anywhere and anytime. According to a survey conducted in 2017, 97% of their students were able to find jobs within a year of graduation.
