The clip, filmed in waters near Nha Trang in Khanh Hoa Province, shows the turtle swimming close to a fishing boat while the vessel was anchored offshore.
Noticing that the animal was tangled in a piece of net, the fishermen used a hook to pull it aboard. Once on deck, they found the turtle tightly wrapped in the netting.
The fishermen carefully cut away the net and scraped barnacles from the turtle’s shell before releasing it back into the sea.
Many viewers expressed joy in the comments section, saying the act of saving a sea turtle would bring good fortune to the fishermen.
According to the man who uploaded the video, identified as Tuan, the incident actually took place in May 2025 while his boat was fishing about 58 nautical miles from shore in waters near Nha Trang.
At the time, the crew had paused their work when they noticed the turtle approaching the boat. One fisherman initially considered jumping into the water to rescue it, but the turtle swam close enough for the crew to pull it aboard and remove the net before releasing it.
Tuan reposted the video on March 14, 2026, and was surprised by the strong reaction from online viewers, with the clip quickly spreading across social media platforms.
