According to the ministry's report, 20 of the new patients are infected in the community including one in Ho Chi Minh City, one in Quang Ninh, 14 in Hai Duong, and four in Gia Lai provinces.

The imported patient is a 31-year-old Indonesian man who recently arrived at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on February 7.

He was sent to a local quarantine area upon arrival and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 on February 9.

The patient is now being treated at the Cu Chi Field Hospital for Covid-19 patients.


With these new infection cases, the number of imported Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 2,091, including 1,197 locally-transmitted cases with 504 cases reported since the new outbreak started in Hai Duong on January 28.

As of 6 pm on February 10, a total of 1,480 Covid-19 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital. There have been 35 deaths, most of them being the elderly with serious underlying diseases.

At present, as many as 114,796 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned from virus-hit areas are being monitored at hospitals, quarantine facilities, and at home.
