The incident occurred on National Highway 6 in Mai Chau District’s Tong Dau Commune when a bus transporting 44 people, including 42 foreigners, crashed into a car and one motorbike. At that time, the bus was running from Hanoi to Son La Province.

Twenty people were left injured, 15 foreigners and two Vietnamese on the bus and three people in the car were brought to hospitals in Hoa Binh and Hanoi.
The injured included tourists from different countries.
According to the initial investigation, the bus driver had failed to slow down when driving down a slope and turning.
Police are further investigating the cause of the accident.
