According to the Ha Tinh Port Authority, at around 4 am, the agency received the call for help from the Nordana Sophia which was facing technical problems. As a result, water filled the ship, putting it at the risk of being sunk.

Eighteen Thai sailors have been rescued from the ship that sank off the central province of Ha Tinh this morning
"At roughly 11:30 on the same day, the crew members who are all from Thailand were brought ashore safely,” said Nguyen Minh Duc, deputy director of the Ha Tinh Port Authority.
Ship Nordana Sophia faced the accident on the way from Hong Kong to Son Duong Port in Ha Tinh. At that time, it was transporting a total 178 tonnes of oil.
The provincial authorities have informed the ship owner of the case and want to co-operate to prevent an oil spill.
