Danang launches strategy to promote Vietnam's image abroad

Danang has unveiled a strategy to strengthen the promotion of Vietnam's image overseas, aiming to position the central coastal city as a leading destination for tourism and investment by 2030.

Under the plan, recently approved by the municipal People's Committee, the city aims to develop an integrated digital media and data system linked to the national Vietnam.vn platform.

By 2030, Danang aims to become a preferred destination for international tourists and investors. By 2045, it hopes to help place Vietnam among the world's top 30 in the Global Soft Power Index and establish itself as a smart, innovative and liveable coastal city.

The plan requires all municipal departments and local authorities to incorporate international image promotion into their external affairs and public communications.

Authorities said the strategy would support Danang's economic development, tourism and international integration while enhancing global awareness of Vietnam as a peaceful, dynamic and culturally rich country.

It also aims to promote Danang as a liveable coastal city and a regional hub for innovation, tourism, logistics and high technology, while attracting investment, expanding international cooperation and countering misinformation that could damage the city's and Vietnam's image.

To achieve these goals, Danang will adopt a more strategic communications approach targeting international audiences, promoting a unified brand while tailoring campaigns to key markets including Europe, Northeast Asia, ASEAN and the United States.

The strategy focuses on four themes for international promotion, including cultural heritage, sustainable coastal and eco-tourism, innovation, high technology and the digital economy, and green growth, high-tech agriculture and local product

Danang also plans to expand its digital communications ecosystem, strengthen inter-agency cooperation, mobilise private-sector resources, enhance the skills of communications personnel and establish a monitoring system to assess the strategy's implementation.
