A cargo ship named SUNRISE 689 went missing along with its 18 crew members four days ago for reasons unknown.
The Vietnam Coastal Radio System announced that they had not made any contact with the ship.
SUNRISE 689, operated by Haiphong Fishery Shipbuilding Company, left Horizon Port in Singapore at around 6:00pm on October 2 set for Quang Tri Province.
Only 40 minutes after departure, all contact with the ship was lost. According to schedule, the ship should have arrived at Con Son Island where they would have had the chance to contact the company by phone. However, nothing has been heard of the ship or its crew since.
According to initial reports, the ship had ten sailors. At the time when the ship lost contact, the weather was very bad, with strong winds and rain.
The Vietnam Coastal Radio System has informed research and rescue teams of localities along the ships route to aid in the effort to locate the ship.
