Archaeologists have found a Cham tower dating back 1,000 years ago in Phong Le village, Cam Le district, the central city of Da Nang.
The foundation of the tower has been exposed during the excavation
The tower, measuring 16m×16m with four corners and four gates, was the result of an excavation which lasted for more than a half month, said Vo Van Thang, Director of the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture.
The excavation was prompted by the discovery of many valuable artifacts used by the Cham ancient people at the same site last year, Thang said.
The researchers are expanding the excavation on an area of about 500 sq.m to further identify the tower’s structure.
