Work on the VND5.83 trillion (USD239.40 million) Quang Tri Airport in the central province of Quang Tri was started today, December 15.
The airport covers a site of 265 hectares in the communes of Gio Quang, Gio Hai and Gio Mai in Gio Linh District. The project investor is a consortium comprising the T&T Transport Infrastructure Development and Investment Company and the Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company.
Quang Tri Airport will have an annual capacity of five million passengers and 22,500 tonnes of cargo. It connects National Highway 1, the Ho Chi Minh Highway and the East-West Economic Corridor through National Highway 9 and the international border gate at Lao Bao.The project will be implemented under a Build-Operate-Transfer contract and the construction is scheduled to be finished within two years.
Quang Tri is among 28 national airports approved by the government by 2030.
