Vietnam Airlines increase flights to Manila as travel demand rises

Vietnam Airlines has announced an increase in flight frequency between Hanoi, HCM City, and Manila, the capital of the Philippines, to accommodate growing travel demand between the two nations.

Starting April 1, the Hanoi-Manila route will increase from three to seven flights per week, operating daily. Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City-Manila route will be adjusted to four weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. With these adjustments, the national flag carrier will operate a total of 11 direct flights per week connecting Vietnam and the Philippines.

Dang Anh Tuan, deputy general director of Vietnam Airlines, highlighted that the airline was the first Vietnamese carrier to launch direct flights to Manila. Since its inception nearly a year ago, the route has played a crucial role as a transport link and a key driver of economic, tourism, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.

The increased frequency on the Hanoi-Manila route underscores Vietnam Airlines’ commitment to enhancing passenger convenience while strengthening Vietnam’s position in the regional aviation market, Tuan emphasized.

According to data from the Philippine Department of Tourism, the number of Filipino visitors to Vietnam surged by 73.6% in 2024 compared to the previous year, while Vietnamese arrivals in the Philippines neared 60,000.

As part of its expansion strategy, Vietnam Airlines plans to launch and restore 15 international routes in the coming year, connecting Vietnam with key destinations such as Italy, Russia, Denmark, China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
