The operator, Thanh Thanh Phat Passenger Transport Co., Ltd., stated that the suspension is necessary to introduce a new, higher-speed vessel with modern features and improved service quality. The upgrade aims to reduce travel time while enhancing passenger safety and comfort.
The suspension is expected to last for 12 months.
The Phu Quy Island ferry previously ceased operations with no confirmed date for resumption.
As a result, only three high-speed ferries remain in service on the Phan Thiet-Phu Quy Island route including the Trung Trac ferry, which can accommodate 598 passengers, and two Superdong ferries, each with a capacity of 572 passengers.
