Authorities in the province's Vi Xuyen District said the landslide broke a 40-metre suspension bridge in Thuong Son Commune, isolating over 200 households with over 800 residents.
Local authorities reported that "the pillars of the bridge collapsed at 4 am on July 8 after a strong flood triggered by heavy rains hit the area. "Local people have been unable to travel as more landslides have affected surrounding roads."
In Ta Su Choong Commune of Hoang Su Phi District, landslides have buried three houses, killing a 13-year-old boy.
Many roads in Hoang Su Phi, Bac Quang, and Vi Xuyen have been covered by rocks and soil falling from surrounding mountains, blocking traffic.
A National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control report said that heavy rains and flooding between July 2 and 4 in the northern mountainous region damaged 74 houses and over 630 hectares of crops.
