According to the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, five of their flights, scheduled to land at Vinh Airport in Nghe An Province, were diverted to Hanoi's Noi Bai Airport due to dense fog on the afternoon of January 24. Four other flights also faced delays on the same day.
VietJet Air also had to divert two flights from Vinh and Tho Xuan airports to land at Noi Bai, while five others were delayed due to poor visibility.
Airlines had to arrange buses to transport passengers from Noi Bai to Vinh and Thanh Hoa cities.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam predict that dense fog may continue in the coming days at some airports in the northern and central regions, including Noi Bai (Hanoi), Cat Bi (Hai Phong), Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), and Vinh (Nghe An).
Passengers are advised to pay attention to weather forecasts and follow airline website updates or messages.
