The villagers used thrown-away vases, dishes and bowls to make the ceramic wall along the alleyway. The idea was proposed last October and the decoration along the 600m alleyway was completed before the Tet Holiday.
Nguyen Thi Hien, a resident in Lien Mac Village said, "Our group had three members at first and we’d had this idea for years."
When Hien's group started making the mosaic wall, many people thought that they were wasting their time. But as more and more slogans and paintings were completed, people changed their minds and started helping out.
"I only wanted to decorate my house with something. Then Hien encouraged me to join the project so I agreed. I and my family completed the picture around my house in two months," said Nguyen Van Tho.
Some other families installed new ceramic pieces instead.
