The 2025/2026 rankings were based on more than 590,000 dish ratings and nearly 19,000 food-product ratings submitted by global users.

TasteAtlas praised the diversity and distinctive flavours of Vietnamese cuisine, highlighting dishes such as pho, banh mi, banh xeo, cha gio, quay and bo kho.

Within Southeast Asia, Indonesia ranked highest at 10th globally, followed by Vietnam (16th), Thailand (24th), the Philippines (25th), Malaysia (29th), Singapore (90th) and Laos (96th).

Italy topped the global ranking, with Greece second and Peru third. Other countries in the top 10 included Portugal, Spain, Japan, Turkey, China and France.

In its list of the world’s 100 best dishes for 2025/2026, TasteAtlas featured two Vietnamese representatives: Southern Vietnamese beef noodle salad (Bun bo nam bo) at 81st and beef noodle soup (Pho bo) at 83rd.

The recognition comes as Vietnam strengthens its reputation as a culinary destination. Earlier, UK travel magazine Time Out named the country among the world’s 20 best winter food destinations for the 2025-26 season.

Culinary tourism continues to surge globally. According to the World Food Travel Association, 81 per cent of international tourists consider local food an essential part of travel and are willing to spend 25-35 per cent of their budget on culinary experiences.

Research and Markets forecasts that the global culinary tourism market will reach USD4.21 trillion by 2033, with annual growth of 14.46 per cent. The Asia-Pacific region is expected to account for 43.1 per cent of market share, underscoring booming demand for discovering cultures and destinations through food.
