The Vietnam-China international train service was officially restored on May 25
On July 16, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) announced that passengers can now purchase tickets for the cross-border train from Gia Lam (Hanoi) to Nanning (China) at all railway stations nationwide.
The initiative is designed to streamline the ticketing process and make it easier for passengers to travel between Vietnam and China by train.
The Vietnam-China international train service was officially restored on May 25 after a lengthy suspension. It aims to boost bilateral economic cooperation, improve rail infrastructure utilisation, and attract more international tourists.
Since resuming service, the route has carried 2,700 passengers. With expanded ticketing access nationwide, that number is expected to grow.
To buy a ticket, passengers must present a valid physical passport and a paper visa at any railway ticket counter in Vietnam. After payment, they receive a receipt, which they must present at the departure station along with the same passport and visa to complete the ticket issuance process.
VNR advises passengers to arrive at the departure station at least one hour before departure to allow sufficient time for processing.
Electronic visas (e-visas) are not accepted for rail border crossings. Only valid paper visas are permitted for international train travel from Vietnam.
