The service will use a B737-800 aircraft, departing from Bao An Airport at 6.10 pm and arriving in Van Don at 8.10 pm; the return flight will leave Van Don at 9.10 pm and reach Shenzhen at 12 am (Vietnam time). In the initial phase, flights will run on a regular schedule throughout November on the 1st, 6th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 24th.
The new route marks a significant step in reopening international connections between Quang Ninh and major economic hubs in China. It also demonstrates the province’s and local businesses’ efforts to diversify international tourist markets. The flight will facilitate access for Chinese visitors to Quang Ninh’s top attractions, including Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu, while reinforcing Van Don’s role as a key gateway linking northeastern Vietnam with international destinations.
Signs from the Chinese tourist market are promising. Recently, nearly 1,000 MICE visitors entered via Mong Cai International Border Gate for a five-day, four-night stay at premium resorts and attractions. Over the past five years, Chinese tourist arrivals in Quang Ninh have grown on average 126.5% per year, with Mong Cai Border Gate receiving around 300,000 Chinese visitors annually. In the remaining months of 2025, approximately 350,000-400,000 Chinese tourists are expected, including groups of 1,000-2,000 people, staying at four- and five-star hotels and participating in three- to four-day itineraries.
Additionally, for the 2025-2026 cruise season, Quang Ninh anticipates nine Beihai-Ha Long voyages, with the first scheduled in November, carrying over 1,000 passengers.
The direct connection between Shenzhen and Van Don is expected to further stimulate tourism and trade and contribute to Quang Ninh’s target of welcoming over 20 million visitors in 2025, including around 4.5 million international tourists.
