From the 3rd until the 15th of the first lunar month, markets in the mountainous district of Tuong Duong are all luring lots of local ethnic people, who are mostly the Mong and the Thai to come for trading, meeting friends or just sight-seeing.
The busiest place in the region is Hoa Binh Town, some 200 kilometres from Vinh City, where the biggest market is gathering.
Coming here, young girls and boys hope to find their lovers, men meet their friends for a drink, and the housewives look to buy a good farming tools or home appliances.
This is also a good chance for the girls to buy new jewelries and boys to buy new furniture to prepare for their weddings.
Local people crowd into these marketplaces from the early morning. They also go with musical instruments, carrying the same assortment of sounds with them. Women come with colourful clothes and impressive jewelry.
Aside from the goods imported from cities, Hoa Binh Spring Market also offers various farm products brought by local people including fruits, rice, vegetables, fish, and meat.
The market lasts until late in the afternoon.
