South Korean tourist revived after cardiac arrest in Danang

Doctors at a hospital in Danang City have revived a 60-year-old South Korean tourist who suffered cardiac arrest while travelling.

The man collapsed shortly after beginning a trip with friends, experiencing chest pain before going into cardiac and respiratory arrest. He was rushed to Xuyen A General Hospital, where doctors performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, intubation and administered cardiac drugs.

He was then taken to the catheterisation lab, where angiography revealed severe narrowing in two major coronary arteries. Doctors inserted two stents to restore blood flow, stabilising his condition. He resumed normal activities within a day.

The hospital said the patient had a history of long-term e-cigarette use and frequent alcohol consumption.

In the same week, doctors treated a Chinese national from Tay Ninh who presented with dizziness and sweating. He was transferred after initial care, diagnosed with severe coronary narrowing and given a stent, recovering well within three days.

Doctor Phan Van Hoc said both patients had common cardiovascular risk factors such as hypertension and smoking, leading causes of heart attacks in men.

Both cases were treated within the critical period, with rapid coordination between emergency resuscitation and cardiac intervention helping to minimise complications.

He warned that heart attacks can strike suddenly, particularly in those with risk factors such as hypertension, smoking and heavy alcohol use, urging immediate medical attention if symptoms such as chest pain, breathlessness, sweating or dizziness occur.
