Bicycles were the most popular means of transportation in Vietnam in the 70's and 80's, but gave way to the motorised streets we see in the cities today.

Over the past 15 years, bicycles have undergone a change in public perception. While, at one time they were looked upon as a great asset to any family, they are now mostly bought by people who cannot afford motorbikes, collectors and those who use them for exercise.

Worried about air pollution, the city of Hanoi has long tried to convince citizens to use bicycles, but the campaign has so far made little impact.
