Time Out unveils list of the 20 happiest cities in the world in 2025.
Hanoi ranks 17th among 20 cities worldwide, becoming the only Vietnamese representative to be called to the list.
Vietnam’s capital city is known for many things: “its historic and beautiful Old Quarter, its tumultuous history, and the seemingly endless wave of scooters, for a start,” Time Out wrote.
“No visit to Hanoi can be complete without seeing a traditional water puppet show, eating mountains of mouth-watering street food, sipping specialty coffee and exploring ancient temples,” the article shared.
There is a lot to love about Hanoi, and Time Out suggests top tips on how to make the most of travelers’ time there, including touring around Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple, visiting the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre.
On the corner of Ta Hien and Luong Ngoc Quyen streets in the Old Quarter is one of the best nightlife spots in the city. Bia Hoi Junction is open throughout the day, but when night comes the streets quickly become crowded, the UK media added.
The list was based on a survey of 18,000 city-dwellers worldwide. Topping the list was Abu Dhabi (UAE), followed by Medellín (Colombia) and Cape Town (South Africa).
The list also saw the presence of some Asian representatives including Mumbai (India), Beijing and Shanghai (China), Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Jakarta (Indonesia).
