Thanh Ha has long been known for its luscious lychees with a rich and sweet flavour.

Every summer, when lychees ripen, the locality bursts into vibrant shades of red and pink and the bustling harvest atmosphere.

Thanh Ha lychees are consumed domestically and exported to markets like Japan, the US, and Australia.

Residents of Phuc Gioi Hamlet are harvesting early-ripening U Hong lychees, which are priced at VND 40,000 (USD 1.54) per kilo.

After being harvested, roughly 15-20 tonnes of lychees are transported daily to the local collection point.

According to early-season lychee traders, this year's output is lower than in previous years, and prices are considerably higher, ranging from VND 30,000 to VND 50,000 per kilo. Early lychees in Thanh Ha are quickly bought and distributed by traders, with no inventory left in storage.

After being purchased, the lychees are soaked in ice water to help preserve their fresh appearance before reaching consumers.

White oval lychees, or U Trung Trang, are the most expensive, costing VND 70,000 to VND 80,000 per kilo.

This year, Hai Duong Province has cultivated 8,800 hectares of lychees, 3,285 hectares in Thanh Ha District, 3,400 hectares in Chi Linh City, and 2,115 hectares in other localities.
The province's lychee cultivation is largely conducted under safe production protocols. Twelve areas are certified GlobalGAP, and 56 are certified VietGAP. The total area certified under either standard amounts to 721 hectares.
This year, Hai Duong's total lychee output is expected to reach 60,000 tonnes, including 38,000 tonnes of Thanh Ha District.
