The VND 12,548 billion (approximately USD 492 million) Vung Ang-Bung section of the North-South Expressway project broke ground in January 2023.
Spanning more than 55 kilometres, the expressway passes through nearly 13 kilometres of Ha Tinh and over 42 kilometres of Quang Binh.
Several large viaducts have been constructed along the route. One of the most prominent is Ky Anh Town's VND 300 billion (approximately USD 11.8 million) Bridge 1 spans over a kilometre.
Bridges 2 and 3 meander gracefully along the Kim Son Reservoir and are also located in Ky Anh.
The route continues with Bridges 4 and 5, which cut through forested valleys and lead to the Deo But Tunnel.
The nearly one-kilometre VND 1,100 billion (approximately USD 43.1 million) Deo But Tunnel is the only road tunnel along the 107-kilometre North-South Expressway Ha Tinh section.
Final touches are currently being completed, including the installation of guardrails, crash barriers, road markings, and traffic signs. The expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Quang Binh and northern provinces and boost economic and social development in the region.
